Base a Template on an Existing Document

To create a template based on an existing document:
  1. Open a document profile card associated with the document you want to turn into a template.
  2. Press the 'Create Template' button (as illustrated in figure 3.29).

  3. Give the template a name and press 'OK' (see figure 3.30).

  4. Word, Excel, or PowerPoint will open with the new template file. Edit the file and save it using the name DocPoint gave it. See section 9.2 to learn how to add bookmarks that integrate DocPoint document data with Microsoft Office templates.

You can now create new documents based on this template. To do so select the 'Template Type' and 'Template Name' from the document profile card when creating new documents. For more information on how to create documents please refer to section 4.1.
